air-purifiersMost often when you decide to provide your house with an air purifier, your decision will be made regarding its features, appearance, and the price of replacement filters. In general, you will find four main air purifier models obtainable in the market nowadays. These are UV purifiers, HEPA air purifiers, electronic ionizer, and ozone generators. So, make sure you already have in mind which type will best suit your household before you go shopping some of these.

The first in the list is the UV purifier which neutralizes the contaminants by the use of ultraviolet light. It is very effective in getting rid of dust mites, bacteria, or mold spores if these particles are exposed long enough under the light. In order to maintain the maximum effectiveness, you need to ensure that this model has a filter and a fan. In addition, there are certain safety and health concerns over the use of UV purifiers in the household environment.

Further, HEPA air purifiers are equipped with High Efficiency Particle Arresting (HEPA) filters to catch contaminants, and a fan which forces air to pass through the filter. Regarding its great effectiveness, it is no wonder that people mostly choose HEPA purifiers. What’s more, they do not produce ozone that is harmful to people with asthmatic problems, the old ones, and most important to children. However, they can be a little bit noisy because of the fan inside the unit, but there are some quieter models available if you want to avoid the noise.

Another type of air purifier that performs through an electronic process is an electronic ionizer. Its job is to reverse the charge of particles present in the air. Due to the collection plates, these particles are dragged down, as well as to nearby surfaces such as walls or furniture. However, in order to completely remove them from your surroundings, you will need to vacuum the surfaces that are collected with those particles to prevent the allergens from appearing again in the air. Yet, the bad side of this purifier is that it emits little ozone.

And the last, and the least recommended model at the same time is the ozone generator, because of little or no effect in purifying the air. Instead of removing allergens from the air, it produces so much unwanted ozone which can have really bad consequences on people’s health. Due to that, they have been prohibited in some countries.
